M Krishnappa

M Krishnappa is the current Housing Minister of Karnataka state, born and bought up in Bangalore. He is the son of Late Muniswamappa. He is a B. Sc graduate from Bangalore University also Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Karnataka. Before joining into politics, he was running Real Estate and Land Development business. He is also ex-member of Southern Railway Board Committee and Bangalore Telecom District Advisory Committee. He entered political arena through Indian National Congress and contested as Indian National Congress Candidate for Bangalore South Parliament Constituency in 2004 General Elections. He served as Member of Legislative Council Karnataka State from 2000 to 2006. He is also AICC Member and KPCC Treasurer. Later on in 2006 he was appointed as Member of Legislative Assembly for Vijaynagar Constituency, Bangalore. He was appointed two time MLA seat from Vijaynagar Assembly Constituency. He is popularly known as “Layout Krishnappa”. There was tough competition amongst 13 cabinet members of the party and M Krishnappa was chosen as Housing Minister of Karnataka State in September 2016 over others. During Chief Minister’s visit to New Delhi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had directed Mr Siddaramaiah to induct Mr. Krishnappa into the Ministry of Housing of the state.
